Decor flower pots with fabric. Decorating and decorating flower pots with your own hands without leaving your home. Video master classes from designers

Making flower pots in different ways is a very exciting activity. How you want to have a beautifully and tastefully decorated window in your apartment or house. The window can be decorated with beautiful curtains. With the right curtains, you can change the look and feel of a room for the better. The color of the curtains is best combined with the color of the room. And leave the window sill itself pristine white. Or, in addition to beautiful curtains, place cute little things around the window.

Today we choose another option: we will decorate the window sill with flowers in large and small flower pots. We will decorate dishes for flowers with our own hands and in different ways. The possibilities for decorating flower pots are endless.

If you have an old knitted sweater in your closet, that's great. It can make a beautiful cover for a flower pot.

For the cover, we cut off the lower part from the sleeve of the sweater. It should be 3-4 cm longer than the height of the pot.

Then we pull the sleeve over the pot so that 1.5 cm remains at the top and bottom. Wrap the top edge inward, without touching the ground. Also tuck 1.5 cm at the bottom.

So that the fabric from the sweater does not get dirty, cover the ground with gravel.

eggshell

For work you will need:

  1. Flower pot made of clay, plastic.
  2. Eggshell.
  3. PVA glue.
  4. Acrylic paints.
  5. Acrylic lacquer.
  6. Acetone.
  7. Spray can with silver or gold paint.
  8. Sponge or brush.

We wash the pot and clean its surface with a sponge with acetone. Next, cover the dried pot with silver paint. After the paint has dried, cover the middle with a layer of white paint.

We select hieroglyphs and draw them with black paint on a flower pot.

Then remove the film from the inside of the eggshell and paint the shell black. Around the hieroglyphs we will make a drawing from the shell. To do this, glue a small section of the pot with glue, attach a piece of the shell. It will be better if the parts of the shell are not very large.

We press a sharp object (awl, needle, toothpick) on the shell and push it apart. Thus, we lay out the entire surface between the hieroglyphs. If the gaps are large, add more shells. At the bottom, lay out a white shell drawing with glue. When the work dries, cover everything on top with acrylic varnish.

Shells, stones and ceramics

For this work, hands, pebbles, pieces of dishes, ceramic tiles, beads, glass are useful. Much depends on your taste and ingenuity.

With the help of Moment glue or a glue gun, shells, stones, fragments of tiles, small broken parts of dishes are attached. We paint the free space with acrylic paint or fill it with grout. If you want the decorations to hold better on the pot, cover the work with a layer of varnish.

So, to get the job done, we need:

  1. Woolen threads (thick and thinner).
  2. Paper with a rough surface.
  3. Fishing line.

To finish the pot, it is preferable to use fairly thick threads, but decorative balls can also be made from threads of less thickness, but of the same color, although their tone may have some differences.

Since the surface of the pot may be too slippery, it will not be easy to wind threads around it. To fix this, the pot should first be wrapped with paper with a rough surface. And then we start winding the threads on the pot. You need to do this in the same way as you wind the threads on a ball. Wind until the entire pot is covered with several layers of thread and looks like a ball with round sides.

Next, we proceed to the manufacture of decorative elements. To do this, you need to make several small balls of various diameters from thinner threads. After that, using a fishing line, sew them to the pot. That's all. Now you can put your "tangle" pot on the corner of a table or shelf, and if you wish, you can hang it from the ceiling.

Try different options for decorating pots with knitting threads. For example, try a combination of different threads, in any case, the result will please you.

Decorating flower pots with your own hands is a fascinating activity that allows you to turn banal, inconspicuous or simply boring clay and plastic pots into exquisite decor elements.

The ideal material for decoration is untreated clay pots without painting and decorations: they are inexpensive and the plants feel just fine in them, while plastic containers do not have sufficient porosity, and therefore do not allow the necessary amount of air to pass to the root system. For the original decoration of flower pots, almost all hand-made techniques are applicable, from artistic painting and decoupage to crackle. A rich imagination, diligence and golden hands can create real miracles! We offer you some interesting ideas that will help breathe new life into nondescript pots and planters.

Decorating flower pots with egg shells using the crackle technique

Crackle is a pattern of thin cracks on the surface of a ceramic product, which is created using special tools for the decorative effect of antiquity. Usually, craquelure varnishes are used for crackle, but we will use the shells from boiled eggs. You can mix white and beige shells. If desired, the shell can generally be painted in any shade. Before work, the shell must be washed in warm water, degreased in a solution of baking soda and dried. A dark base is ideal for a natural white or beige shell, so if necessary, a light pot can be painted with dark acrylic paint.

We apply PVA glue on the surface of the pot and lay the shell on it with the convex side up, cover it with a napkin or paper and press lightly so that the shells stick tightly and become covered with craquelures - a network of cracks. To make the cracks wider, the shell pieces can be slightly pushed apart. The resulting ornament is covered with ink. As soon as it penetrates deep enough into the cracks of the shell, remove its excess with a slightly damp cloth. The paint will remain only in the cracks, and the shell itself will take on its original appearance. For durability, cover the pot with varnish.

Flower pot decor in oriental style

As in the previous version, here we will also use the eggshell crackle technique, and we will also have to delve a little into Chinese or Japanese hieroglyphics in order to select and beautifully draw symbols with actual meaning. For decoration, in addition to a flower pot, you will need eggshells, acetone, PVA glue, acrylic paints and acrylic varnish.

1. Thoroughly wash the pot and degrease it with acetone. We cover the prepared pot with silver paint. When the paint dries, cover the middle part of the pot with two layers of white paint.

2. We select hieroglyphs that are suitable in meaning and draw them with black paint on four sides of the pot. For example, you can draw the following symbols:

3. Remove the inner film from the eggshell and paint part of the shell black.

4. We begin to create craquelure around the hieroglyphs: we smear a small area with glue, apply a piece of shell to the surface, press it with our fingers so that the shell cracks and, using a toothpick or any suitable object, carefully push the shell apart, thereby creating space between the cracks. Similarly, lay out the entire surface between the hieroglyphs.

5. On the lower rim, painted with silver paint, lay out the craquelure with white shells.

6. When the pot with craquelure dries, cover it with several layers of varnish.

How to decorate a flower pot with a mosaic

To create a mosaic, we need colored pebbles, glass or pebbles, hot glue or regular PVA glue, tile grout, a small brush and varnish.

1. It is desirable that the pebbles or glass pieces be at least two colors, then you can try to post some interesting drawing. Before starting work with the pot, the invented drawing should be laid out on paper, if necessary, mark the pot and only then transfer the image to the surface of the pot.

2. First of all, we glue the drawing, and then we take on the background. Using hot glue will greatly speed up the process.

3. When the pebbles are thoroughly glued, we apply grout for the tile, thoroughly smearing the entire pot. If at the same time individual elements disappear, you should not be upset. They can be glued in a day, when the grout is completely dry.

4. 10-15 minutes after applying the grout, when it dries a little, with a wet cloth we begin to wash it off the glass or pebbles. After 24 hours, if the grout mixture dries out a lot, apply another layer, wipe it again and wait another day.

5. All that remains for us is to open the pot with varnish, “settle” a plant in it and admire the creation of our own hands!

If the surface is completely laid out with pebbles, grout is not necessary. An interesting mosaic is obtained from pieces of ceramic tiles, broken dishes, shells or seeds. The shells are glued using papier-mâché: we tear the newspaper or toilet paper into small pieces and mix it with glue, fill the shells to the top with the resulting mass and leave them to dry for a day, after that we grease the shells with glue and put them on a pot, pressing lightly.

How to decorate flower pots using decoupage technique

Colorful motifs cut from ordinary table napkins will help create a picture effect on the decorated item.

1. We paint the surface of the pot with acrylic paint of a suitable color. Bright colorful motifs will look most advantageous on a plain nuanced background.

2. Cut out one or more motifs you like from a multilayer napkin. We divide the napkin into layers. For work, we need only the top layer with the selected pattern.

3. We put the drawing on the pot (dry drawing on a dry surface!), Smooth it out and, using a brush, carefully cover it with PVA glue diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 1, moving from the center to the edges so that there are no wrinkles and folds.

4. When the glue dries, cover the pot with clear varnish. The upper rim of the pot can be originally decorated with sisal, raffia threads or dry grass.

For decoupage, you can use not only paper napkins, but also any printing products, fabrics, lace.

Decoration of flower pots with sisal

Sisal can be an excellent decoration for a pot. Lubricate the surface of the pot with building glue and lay sisal threads in a circle. A piquant highlight can be a pigtail woven from the same material and glued to a pot wrapped in sisal.

Making a rustic flower pot

For modest flowers, reminiscent of field or meadow, a pot decorated with twigs will be an ideal “house”. For this simple but very unusual decor, we need thin even branches with a pleasant texture, burlap, a not very wide pot or jar with even sides, twine. We cut the branches so that they are slightly higher than the pot. We tie the branches with twine. We wrap the pot with burlap, sewing the ends together or fixing them with hot glue. On top of the burlap we wrap the pot with tied branches, connecting the ends with twine bows.

Decorating antique pots: how to create a patina effect

A couple of simple manipulations and the most ordinary clay pot will turn into an antique rarity. How? One, two, three!

1. Degrease the surface of the pot with any alcohol-containing liquid and carefully process it with sandpaper with a grit of 70.

2. We cover the pot with moisture-resistant putty with careless strokes and let it dry.

3. We apply marsh-colored paint over the putty. When it dries, use 100 grit sandpaper to lightly rub over the places where the putty lay too thick. Well, now your pot looks like it was dug up during the excavations of Ancient Rome!

Original decor of flower pots and planters

  • Moss and cones.

  • Birch bark.

  • To keep your green friends always warm and cozy, knit cute blouses for them or simply use sleeves from an old knitted sweater to make covers.

  • For a container with geraniums, a rustic “suit” made of burlap and buttons is perfect. We make a pattern, wrap the pot with burlap in several layers, mask the crumbling edges and decorate the “suit” with large decorative buttons, best of all - wooden ones. For a strong fixation of the burlap on the pots, we thread and fasten a tourniquet or elastic band along the upper edge.

  • We paste over the pot with simple pencils with an elastic band of the same color and size, and decorate the composition with a satin and organza bow.

Almost all owners of private houses and city apartments are engaged in floriculture today. Some housewives even create mini-greenhouses. Flowers are decoration, improve mood. The stores offer a wide selection of different flowerpots for plants for indoors and outdoors. But it is much more interesting and more profitable to create this item with your own hands at home than to buy it.

Creating pots with your own hands for the house and the street, there is a chance to give old, unnecessary things a second life.

For the manufacture of a flowerpot, anything that can serve as a container for the earth is suitable. Thanks to rich imagination and craftsmanship, abandoned washbasins and chairs become original designs with plants. Watering cans, mayonnaise buckets, boots, metal boxes, portable barrels, tires, dishes, containers, boots, old dolls, funny figures, rags, etc. can serve as the basis for creating home-made compositions. There are many master classes on the Internet for making unusual products that you can do yourself step by step.

Clay pot options

Clay flower pots for giving, created by yourself, will be a good decoration and addition to any interior. For work you will need: water, clay, rag. They take a piece of clay and begin to knead it like dough. If the lump is hard, add a little water. The mixture should be free of bubbles, homogeneous, not sticky to the hands.

First you should try to mold simple shapes: balls, animals. Having got the hang of it, you can start creating a flower pot. To do this, roll the clay into a pancake and cut out a circle that will serve as the bottom of the flowerpot. Then they make walls and attach them to the bottom with several bundles or twine 0.5 centimeters in diameter. It is easy to create different shapes of flower vases from clay.

When the work is finished, the pot is wrapped in newspaper, paper or a rag. After the product has completely dried, it is fired twice. The first firing removes all excess moisture, the second - gives strength to the product. It should be heated evenly at a temperature of about +300 degrees for three hours.

Pots made of cement, concrete

Original street pots made of concrete and cement are obtained. For their manufacture, a classic recipe is used: sand, cement, water and aggregate are mixed in a ratio of 2: 1: 0.5: 4. If you plan to create large flowerpots, it is recommended to use a reinforcing frame. To give perfect smoothness to the front surface, grinding is used with an emery and felt wheel.

For pouring a concrete pot, molds from different materials are used. The main thing is that the product does not get wet and keeps its shape for five hours. Thick cardboard, a bucket, a glass, a tray, a plastic bottle, a frame made of boards will do. You will also need a rag.

Algorithm for making a flowerpot from cement:

  • Take a container and wrap it with foil.
  • Soak a rag with cement. It is important that there is not a single dry piece. To do this, the material is left in the solution for 10 minutes.
  • Put the rag on the container and gently straighten. You can make wavy edges or creases.
  • Leave for 72 hours until completely dry.

It is better to watch the whole process of making a pot on a video on the Internet.

Gypsum planters

A gypsum flower pot for giving is made by analogy with a cement product. For work, you will need two plastic containers of different sizes, water, gypsum. A 5 liter container should be lubricated inside with oil. Place a smaller shape in it. Make a solution of gypsum and water in a ratio of 2: 1. Pour gypsum into the free space between the pots. Let it cool for a couple of hours and then take it out of the mold.

Decorate with a knife, cutting out interesting patterns. For example, a flower, curved lines. For the pot to completely dry and harden, you need to wait a week. After that, the vase is allowed to be painted.

It is better to make flower pots from gypsum. After all, such material absorbs all excess moisture. If you make the main pot out of it, over time the product will begin to rot. You can read about how to make a flower pot with your own hands.

Wooden flower pots

Wooden flowerpots from boards are less common than clay and concrete ones. But they look original and have a number of advantages. For example, they are easy to process, durable, easy to repair. The tree allows you to realize any design ideas. To work, you will need a hammer, jigsaw, saw, floor chipboard, log or stump.

A piece about 40 centimeters long is cut from the log. A drill drills several holes at the same distance from the walls. They make nests in the center to destroy the core. Remove excess wood with a chisel and form a pot. The walls must be strong and thick. The edges must be carefully aligned.

If there is a plastic pot of a suitable diameter, it is better to put it in a wooden flowerpot. Otherwise, the inside of the container will have to be impregnated with moisture-proof compounds, lined with polyethylene. After all, wood is hygroscopic, upon contact with wet soil, it begins to rot and deform over time.

Pots from improvised materials

It is easy to make a pot for plants from plastic bottles with your own hands. For work you will need plastic bottles, acrylic paint, a knife, a music disc, a glue gun, scissors. First, the bottle is cut into two halves. An uneven edge will look more beautiful: in the form of a wave or a pattern. A disk is glued to the outer part of the container (from the side of the neck). After drying, paint the structure in any color.

Consider another interesting way to make a flowerpot from a plastic bottle. It is implemented by analogy with the previous version. But the growth of flowers is supposed to be from the bottom. Pots made of plastic containers are easily suspended from the ceiling. Therefore, such products are ideal for families who have children or pets that can harm flowers.

Decorating flower pots

There are many pots and vases for sale. But most of them are not beautiful enough, making the interior more boring and simple. Of course, you can buy a designer model, but it will cost a lot. It is much more profitable to decorate a flowerpot with your own hands.

Seashells, stones, fragments of broken tiles and dishes, buttons, coins are suitable for decorating the container. Before sticking these elements to the pot, they need to be washed and degreased. It is advisable to apply glue to the container and decor items. Then press the shells to the surface and wait a few seconds.

When all the details are glued, they begin to paint over the empty spaces. For this, it is allowed to use a mixture of PVA, cement and acrylic paints. The composition is applied with a brush.

You can also emphasize the marine style by decorating with river or sea sand. To do this, apply glue to the voids and sprinkle sand on them at an angle. The final step will be varnishing the pot. This will add shine and strength to the product.

A popular and affordable decor tool is eggshell. First, it must be cleaned of the film, rinsed and dried well. The part of the pot on which the element will be attached is covered with glue. Next, shell fragments are attached with the convex side outward. If you need to correct the position of the element, you must use a toothpick. When the work is finished, the entire decorated surface is covered with PVA glue.

The decoupage method is interesting, in which napkins, paper pictures, eggshells, macrame threads act as decorative elements. Provence style technique is suitable for plastic, clay and corrugated pots.

Performing decoupage with your own hands, you should go through a series of steps:

  1. Cleaning, degreasing, priming the flowerpot.
  2. Coating the surface with paint.
  3. Cutting shapes from crepe paper.
  4. Gluing paper elements to the surface of a flowerpot or planter.
  5. Decorating with additional materials.
  6. Lacquering for fixing.

Often lace is used to decorate the pot. To do this, glue is applied to the inner surface of the material and applied to the container. They also decorate with fragments of burlap. To transform the flowerpot use beads, beads.

Unusual applications

There are a lot of ideas for using flower pots. By choosing the most suitable method, you can make the garden unusual. On the Internet, there are different options for creating original flower beds and flowerpots. Pots are also used to make bird feeders and drinkers, candlesticks, and heaters. Interesting are toys made from clay containers for flowers and plants.

Fountain from flower pots

The fountain is a good decoration of the garden. But for its construction, a large area or site is required, which not every summer resident has. There is only one way out of the situation - to create a miniature fountain from flower pots without a pump.

First you need to buy:

  • Large flowerpot, with a diameter of at least 30 centimeters. This will be the base of the fountain.
  • A float that will show the water level.
  • Pump.
  • Mesh on a rubber basis.

It is required to place the pump in the pot so that its spout is flush with the edges of the pot. Then cut off a part of the grid and close the container with it from the inside to the very edge. Put a layer of pebbles on the grid. Fill the pot with water. Create the necessary jet of water with the help of a pump.

flower pot men

From just one flower pot with your own hands, it's easy to make a creative and fun decoration for your backyard.

Clay and plastic pots are suitable for crafts. Such a man can be hung in the gazebo.

A master class for making a man from a flower pot is given below:

  1. Pick up flowerpots for the torso and head.
  2. Flip them upside down.
  3. Connect the body and head with wire.
  4. Put foam on the edge of the wire so that the pots are securely fastened.
  5. Take a piece of wire and string small containers on it. This will be the human hand. Similarly, make the second arm and legs.
  6. Attach them to the body with wire.
  7. On the face, draw eyes, nose and mouth with acrylic paints. Dried flowers must be fixed to the drainage holes with wire. This will be the hair.

Do-it-yourself tandoor from pots

Tandoor is easy to make with your own hands. To do this, you need a clay pot and a stationary metal barrel. Capacities must be installed in each other. A pot located inside a ceramic barrel should be surrounded by glass wool or rock salt. If the outer body of the barrel is made of steel, then holes must be drilled in the bottom of the container through which the ash will exit. Attach wheels to the bottom of the case so that the stove is convenient and easy to transport. The design is ready, it will be a pleasure to use it.

Lighthouse from pots

The lighthouse is a decorative element of landscape design. It is easy to make it from clay pots. You will also need small coasters for flowerpots, permanent glue, paint brushes, a battery-powered candle, a glass candlestick sized for a pot, acrylic paint.

The work algorithm is as follows:

Chandelier from flower pots

An old chandelier can be given an original look with the help of flower pots. This will require nuts, a cartridge, a cord, a plastic flowerpot, screwdrivers. Decorate the pot as you wish. Strip the wire and attach to the cartridge. With a hot screwdriver, make holes in the pot and stand. Put a washer on the free end of the wire. Insert the wire from the cartridges into the pot so that the washer remains inside. From the outside, fix the cord with a nut. Thread the wire into the stand, which will be attached to the ceiling. Adjust lampshade height. Hang a chandelier. It is advisable to take an energy-saving light bulb so that it does not heat the flowerpot.

Planter heater

To create the shape of a small heater, you will need 4 ceramic flower pots: 2 large and 2 small. You will also need nuts, washers, a candle and long bolts. Holes should be drilled in the stand and pot. Pass the chains through the bolts and fix them with nuts. Insert a bolt through the hole in the pot, put a washer on the bottom and fix it with a nut. Put a smaller pot on the bolt. Fasten in the same way. Next, put on a stand, a candle and fix it. Do the same with the other flower pot. Hang ceramic pots on a holder. Put a few candles on the stand. Such a heater can be used not only in the winter in the apartment, but also outdoors in the evening.

Flower slide of flowers

If there is not enough space on the veranda or in the garden, you can decorate the site with a slide and cascades of flowerpots. To do this, you need to take a large flower pot, pour a drainage layer on the bottom and put a wooden rod in the center. Cover with earth. Put a container of smaller diameter on the rod. Place all other pots in the same way. It is important to make additional holes in the bottoms to drain excess water. It is better to plant ampelous plants in such a design. This will make a beautiful cascade of flowers.

Making pallets and stands with your own hands

and a rack in the form of an alpine staircase will be a good decoration for a window sill in a small apartment. To make this design, you will need 5 pots of different sizes. The color of the containers may be the same or different. In the lowest pot, you need to stick a metal tube or rod. Fix from below with a self-tapping screw or mounting foam. Pour small stones, earth into the container and plant a flower. Attach all other pots to a metal rod from largest to smallest so that each flowerpot rests at the opposite angle on the previous container. It is better to turn the pots in different directions. So the stand on the windowsill will look more harmonious. More details of the manufacturing process and instructions can be seen in the photo.

Thus, it is not difficult to create flower pots with your own hands. The result is original, beautiful containers and boxes for plants. In addition, interesting designs can be created from flowerpots. The main thing is to show imagination and take some time.

The easiest way to freshen up your home, add colors of playful mood to it will help decorating flower pots.

Well, something, and there are a lot of flowers in our homes, so there is room for fantasy to roam.

A tastefully decorated flower pot will add charm to an attractive plant and ennoble it.

The most common clay flower pots are starting to look especially impressive. The advantage of planting flowers in clay pots is that the clay material is quite porous and allows the plant roots to breathe, providing adequate drainage for optimal plant health.

But clay flower pots do not look very impressive, usually they lack color and design.

But it is very easy to decorate them with a little imagination and hands. I will tell you about the easiest ways to decorate flower pots.

Method 1.

Glue beautiful beads, buttons of interesting shapes, shells, rhinestones, pieces of plastic or glass, pebbles, amber onto the flower pot.

You can pick up different parts of the same color, contrasting with the color of the pot. Or pick up decorative elements to match the main color of the pot. This method is very suitable for decorating clay or completely featureless flower pots.

A little trick: buy a glue gun, and gluing small decorative details will be easy and fast.

Method 2.

You can use textiles left over from curtains to decorate pots or pick up scraps of fabric to match the color of the curtains.

Or maybe the other way around! Flower pots decorated with bright contrasting ribbons will attract attention.

It can be beautiful ribbons, picturesquely tied around the pot.

A little trick: if you decorate several pots at once, make a pattern.

Method 3.

Draw a pattern on a clay flower pot with acrylic paints. Acrylic paints are very bright, dry quickly and practically do not wash off (keep this in mind when painting and spread the paper when you paint).

The simplest drawing is the one based on geometric shapes: ovals, circles.

See how to do this with an example of a turtle drawing.

Mark the outline of the drawing with a simple pencil. In this case, you need to draw an oval, legs and head of a turtle. Fill in the contour with terracotta paint and draw a frame around the turtle.

This drawing is good because if your hand suddenly trembles, then in this place you can paint on something.

The decorative possibilities for decorating flower pots are almost endless!

Decorating flower pots can become your hobby, and inexpensively. Involve the kids in this activity, this is a great creative activity for the development of children and spending time together.

Black and white: painting the pots

This painted black and white pot will look especially impressive when planted with plants with white and black flowers.

materials

Ceramic pot 30 cm high.
Paper strips or duct tape.
Paint brush.
Matte white and black paint.
Sherds or other drainage material.
Soil, mixture.
Slow dissolving granular fertilizer.
Thin gravel.

Plants

White osteospermum (Osteospermum).
"Black Grass" - Ophiopogon (Ophiopogon planiscapus, variation).
3 bushes of pansies (Viola).

1. Stick paper strips on the outside of the pot to create a checkered pattern. 2. Paint the top and bottom rows of cells white, and the rim and middle row black. Remove the paper strips.
3. Close the drainage holes in the bottom with shards and fill the pot halfway with soil. Plant the osteospermum in the background. 4. Place an ophiopogon next to the osteospermum and fill the container with soil. Plant three pansies in a group.

Gardener's secrets:

Try coloring the pot in a different way and choose different shades of flowers for the composition. You can experiment with a blue-white gamut, which is suitable for morning glory of the same colors, or a red-green pattern, red pelargonium will harmonize with it.

5. Sprinkle a teaspoon of granular fertilizer over the surface of the soil and cover with gravel on top. Water and place in a sunny spot.

Hello, dear needlewomen and needlewomen!

I have a friend who is a big fan of large indoor flowers. I have already given her flowers several times, which grew out of the size of my apartment, and she was simply incredibly happy about this.

Indoor plants are so different that for every taste, interior and lighting there is a suitable flower. But the pots in which these various indoor flowers grow are usually not so beautiful and original. What if the old flower pot is still quite strong, but completely unsightly? And new pots are not always a miracle of design, ideally suited to the interior. Meanwhile, updating old and decorating new flower pots is not at all difficult - and even pleasant.

Method one: fun stripes. Decorating a flower pot with a strip of fabric, as in the photo above, is a breeze. The only thing is to find a piece of dense, rigid fabric that matches the color, cut out a rectangle along the height of the pot (add 2-3 cm on all sides to the hem) and tuck the sections if they crumble. It remains to fix the fabric on the pot by gluing it along the top edge and side, or you can chop off the edges of the “clothes” with pins (or sew on Velcro) - then the cover will be easier to change or remove for washing.

Method two: a la naturel. To decorate a terracotta pot in such a wild-natural style, you will need branches about a finger thick (can be thinner), a piece of jute burlap, glue in a gun and thin wire. Cut a piece of burlap to the size of the pot. Cut the branches with secateurs: the length is approximately equal to the height of the flower pot.

Now we glue burlap on a clean pot, and branches on it. Branches-twigs can be laid tightly or deliberately carelessly - as you like. We wrap the finished structure with wire for reliability.

Voila! Non-flowering plants - ferns, for example, will look especially good in such a vessel. And for the garden, excellent tubs will turn out, even if landscape design and phytodesign are not your forte.

What can be made from an ordinary plastic pot

You need to take an ordinary plastic pot - they are of different sizes, matte brown ceramics. Of course, there are some more, but it is better to take a matte surface - so that the paint is better fixed.

I write as I did, but much can be excluded at will. First, I glued pieces of foam rubber under the hem for a moment, then tore them off - such torn pieces turned out - under paint like pumice or porous stone. At the same time, I glued snail squiggles from a clothesline onto the upper rim (more precisely, what is under it). When everything was dry - with a piece of foam rubber I painted the pot with the usual paint remaining after the repair (in my case, white) - I made roughness with foam rubber - this is so that later the decorations would be better fixed on the glue.

When it dried up, I filled the pot with silver-colored alkyd paint in a spray (I bought it a hundred years ago in the household department for 180 rubles, but I already decorated a bunch of little things with it). And then everything is simple, very simple! The main thing is a bunch of buttons or similar plastic nonsense, and, of course, fantasy!

I bought 3 types of glue, but it went best experimentally - glue "transparent modeler for plastic" - a yellow tube, costs 20 rubles. Half of it was left after the pot, but my pot is the largest (of those that I saw). She sculpted buttons as intuition asked. At the end, she painted stepped horizontal stripes and snails from ropes with black nail polish. All!

Flower pot transformation

Houseplants are sure to brighten up any home. But how dull and uninteresting look purchased terracotta flower pots. For a person with imagination, this problem is easily solved.

A little diligence and the simplest materials will help turn an ordinary indoor plant shelf into an original, cheerful, colorful oasis in the apartment. She will keep the atmosphere of summer, and her bright, full of life colors will light up even the most gloomy corners.

On the outside of the pot, mark a vertical center line with a pencil. Lay the pot sideways on a sheet of paper so that the drawn line coincides with the edge of the sheet. Roll it across the surface of the paper, marking the top and bottom of the pot, as if you were making a pattern. Add 2cm seam allowance on both sides to fold over the edges. Then cut out the pattern.

Cover the pot with a thin layer of thickener and leave to dry. This will protect the surface of the terracotta and, by acting as a primer, will help the fabric adhere to the pot. Position the cut paper on the right side of the selected material and cut the fabric.

Put the pattern in a flat dish (tray, dish), pour a little thickener on top and spread it with a brush over the surface of the fabric. Remove the workpiece from the dish and let the excess liquid drain. Do not wring out the material, otherwise it will wrinkle.

Wrap the fabric around the flower pot, smoothing it slightly so it lies flat. When doing this, pay special attention to the protruding edge of the pot.
decorative bow

Cut a rectangle of fabric about a third the height of the pot and twice the width. Cover it with hardener in the same way as a pot blank. Bend the opposite long edges so that they meet in the middle, press and dry for about 45 minutes.
Lay the resulting strip on your work surface wrong side up and join the short sides in the center. Press down and let dry a bit. Insert folded pieces of thick paper inside the bow so that it retains its shape and leave to dry completely until the bow holds its shape on its own.
In the meantime, prepare a small piece of the same material for the center border and coat with hardener. Tie the prepared ribbon in the center, while aligning the ends of the bow.
Apply a little PVA on the back of the bow (at several points) and, attaching to the pot, secure. Leave to dry.
Using striped fabric, it's easy to decorate the pot with a fun frill. Cut a long strip about 5 cm wide so that the strips run vertically. Coat the material with hardener and wait for the tape to dry.
Fold in the folds using the stripes on the fabric as a guide. Position the tape around the top edge of the pot and secure with clothespins until the hardener is completely dry.

Remove the clothespins, run a narrow strip of fabric, cut so that the strips are horizontal, around the rim of the pot, covering the top edge of the frilled tape, and glue it. Trim the edge by cutting off any excess material.

Lovers of vintage trifles will love this gift: it can be used both as a decor for a flower pot (just place the pot inside), and as a stylish pencil holder or a vase for dried flowers!

You won’t need much time to make it, and the materials that we used in our work are always at hand!

So let's get to work!

We will need:

piece of corrugated cardboard

wrapping

dispersion PVA glue

flat brushes for paints and glue

acrylic paints in white, black and bronze.

We cut out four rectangles of 9x11 and one square of 9x9 centimeters from cardboard. Using construction tape (you can also use just strips of paper smeared with glue), we form the base of the vase, as shown in the photo. After all four sides are interconnected, we fix the bottom. Tear the wrapping paper into small pieces and crumple them in your hands.

We glue the base with pieces of crumpled paper, additionally crushing and deforming them directly on the form. After the entire outer part of the box is sealed, coat it with a thin layer of glue and let it dry. From the inside, carefully decorate the edge with an even strip. We make flagella from long paper strips and fold them into a flat spiral.

We glue the spiral in the center of one of the sides of the vase and coat its surface with a thin layer of PVA glue. We fix the same spirals on the remaining three sides. We dip a dry brush into white paint and easily pass it over the entire outer surface of the form, then in the places of folds and protrusions we additionally pass a brush with bronze paint.

Paint the inside of the vase with black acrylic. Here is our spring gift! Happy holidays to you!

Pot wrapped with twine

Materials and tools: A simple and cheap plastic flower pot, twine (rope), PVA glue.

The workflow is very simple- glue your pot with twine. Gradually apply glue to the pot and wrap with twine. When everything is dry, glue the pieces of twine in the form of a decoration, as shown in the photo.

PUTTING THE FLOWER POT

Materials and tools: The cheapest ceramic pots, putty, spatula, paint for coloring.

Progress: I made these pots Olga Ermoshkina. She covered the pots with putty and made patterns with a spatula. For the putty to dry, you need to wait one day. Then paint with paint. Patterns can be different.
